FAQ
AUSTIN MUSIC FOUNDATION – FAQ’s
Q: Aside from one-on-one consulting, what other events does the AMF offer to artists throughout the year?
A: The Austin Music Foundation produces twelve small group workshops, four venue bootcamps, mixers and fundraisers every year. Courses range from topics on legal to booking your band and we try to introduce up-to-date tips on the ever changing music business.
Q: How long has the Austin Music Foundation been around?
A: The AMF has been helping local artists for 10 years and was founded by Colin Kendrick and Nikki Rowling to show artists how to manage their bands with valuable resources, DIY tools and music business panels.
Q: How is the Austin Music Foundation funded and how can I support the AMF?
A: The AMF is partially funded by the City Of Austin, sponsors, fundraisers and donations. To help support the Austin Music Foundation, click HERE to donate anyway that you can.
Q: What is the Creative Media Center?
A: The Creative Media Center provides a Mentor program, access to digital and educational resources, small group sessions, webinars and one-on-one training from experts in various business aspects of the creative arts. Artists are able to work alone or in groups to transform their raw content into finished digital media. The space is also home to many of AMF’s events, workshops and small group sessions.
Q: Can I just walk in to the Creative Media Center or do I need to make an appointment?
A: Walk-ins are welcome but to get valuable one-on-one time with one of our AMF consultants, booking an appointment is recommended. To book an appointment now, send an email to jennifer@austinmusicfoundation.org and schedule your consultation today.
Q: How long are consultations at the Creative Media Center?
A: Consultations booked by appointment are one hour, and walk-ins are usually handled on a first come first serve basis if an appointment has not been scheduled for that hour. Due to high traffic, we recommend booking an appointment so we can set aside time for you.
Q: How do I get to the Creative Media Center?
A: The Creative Media Center is located inside the Austin Studios complex in the Soundcheck offices (Stage 4). The address is 1901 E. 51st Street, Austin, Texas. Drive up to the gate and press 3 twice on the entrance box. When you see “AMF Media Center” press # and we’ll buzz you in.
Q: What are the hours of operation for the AMF’s Creative Media Center?
A: The media center is open from 11am-6pm Monday through Friday and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Q: What materials and/or resources are available to use in the Creative Media Center?
A: There are six Dell workstations, a 47″ flat screen TV with a webcam for webinars and small group sessions, various literature, checklists and links on music, film and gaming.
Q: Can the AMF help book or manage our band?
A: Unfortunately not because the Creative Media Center acts more as a resource center and is a non-profit, but we can offer contact lists of various Texas venues and contacts that you or your band can use to get the gigs.
Q: What online sites does the AMF recommend to find lists of contacts, such as Texas venues, record stores, radio stations, etc?
A: The Texas Music Office has spent years of timeless research creating the Texas Music Database that is the “go to” resource for contacts, addresses and links to everything Texas music. www.texasmusicoffice.com
Q: Who directs and sits on the board of the Austin Music Foundation?
A: Our team is made up of some of Austin’s biggest music believers, selected local entertainment industry professionals, and local music veterans to ensure that the AMF is doing everything they can to keep Austin “The Live Music Capital of the World”.
Q: How can I volunteer to help AMF at events, workshops and seminars?
