11.06.03 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE On Monday, November 24th, 2003, the Austin Music Foundation (AMF) will hold its ninth Music Industry Boot Camp (MIBC) of the year, "State of the Industry: Artist's Rights." The MIBC series is held at MOMO's Club, 618 W. 6th Street from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
This diverse group of panelists will discuss both legal and illegal
forms of online distribution and how they affect the artist's bottom
line. They'll also comment on the state of major and indie label artist
contracts, focusing on how contracts have been adapted to address the
fundamental changes that have occurred within the industry. Since this
is the last Bootcamp, the panel will also take a broad look at the
future of music, commenting on topics such as the changing value of
music, and the effects of recent congressional legislation on artist's
rights. The training continues after the panel discussion with the
Round Table Workshop, where audience members can chat personally with
each panelist and receive more tailored attention. The panelists for
each MIBC are experts in their industry, and each brings their
knowledge and experience to benefit the local Austin music community.
As always, Music Industry Bootcamp is FREE for attendees, and is also a
great place to network with others in the Austin music community.

Michael Barnett Manager, Two Guy Trio In 1996 Michael Barnett
founded the production entity Moveable Feast Recordings which handled
the artist development and management of a handful of regional bands
and musicians. In 1999, Moveable Feast took on a number of partners and
emerged as Edible Records, LLC. They currently have only two bands on
their roster which enables them to both maintain intimate relationships
with their artists and create highly involved promotional campaigns. In
the fall of 2002, Edible Records released the debut of Two Guy Trio,
"Your Rock-n-Roll Birthday" which Michael produced and recorded himself
(Two Guy Trio currently has over 1 000 000 Kazaa downloads). Woodwork,
the other band on the label, is in the studio finishing up their
sophomore album which is slated for a late 2003 release. Michael has
also spent the last couple of years as a scout for a major label.
