UPCOMING EVENTS She Rocks calendar release party - Elysium - Thur, Nov 8 | 10.20.04 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For the second consecutive year, the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs has selected Austin Music Foundation as a destination for its Young Professionals International program. In partnership with the City of Toronto, Foreign Affairs Canada has recognized the unique manner in which Austin Music Foundation assists the music community as a part of the Foreign Affairs Office mandate to experience 'Cultural Identity.' The City of Toronto's section of the Creative Youth Envoy (CYE) program sends recent graduates of Canadian post-secondary institutions to six different cultural organizations around the world for a six month internship financed by the Department of Foreign Affairs. The organizations across the world chosen by the City of Toronto are the Austin Music Foundation, Goethe Institut of Berlin, Germany; Cultural Enterprise of Cardiff, Wales; Department of Cultural Affairs of Chicago, Illinois; Creative Industries Development Services of Manchester, England; and the City of Milan Culture Department and Palazzo Reale in Italy. These organizations are selected for their leading role in the development of arts and culture. The program provides a "bridge opportunity" for the interns to engage in a career in an international scene of culture and arts. Once the new interns arrive at their prospective workplace, they are immersed in a new country's culture and participate in the organization's work within their respective communities. To assist with these programs, the CYE intern is responsible for supervising on-site events and meetings, co-coordinating volunteers, assisting with promotion and communications, co-coordinating on-site technical and equipment requirements, recruiting members, liaising with Music Industry Boot Camp panelists, and evaluating programs. For the 2003-2004 year Theo Mathien was working full-time with the AMF and this year Meghan Warby has been employed by the program. The Creative Youth Envoy program is funded by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade through its Young Professionals International initiative as a part of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy.
