Aubrey Hays

Floating lily pads on tranquil lakes are what Aubrey Hays’ shimmering guitar and vocals most closely resemble. Beneath her trembling vibrato are warm musical arrangements that propel touching stories of travel and lament. Her bold musical sensibility relies on colorful and original harmonic twists in turn inspired by a legion of blues and folk songstresses such as Joni Mitchell and Janis Joplin. Regardless of the vulnerability in her playing, Aubrey Hays takes the stage with the confidence and presence of a seasoned veteran.

There’s an understated appeal to Aubrey’s nationally recognized songwriting. Whether it’s the raw momentum of each song’s emotional outpour or the melodic inventiveness beneath their lyrics, there’s something in Aubrey’s output for everyone. She was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered once in 2018 and again in 2020, capturing praise for the “dreamy, romantic lilt” of her music.

In February 2020, Aubrey released her debut studio single “Isn’t It Enough” and recorded a live studio session for Austin Uncharted at King Electric Studio. The track features the studio work of Alex Lopez, Sam Howden, Connor Ingle, and Aubrey herself on a cyan Airline guitar. The single touches on only a slimmer of Aubrey’s musical ability which includes multi-instrumental talent on over 10 instruments and experience playing bluegrass in the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Her EP is set to be released later this year.
