Music Industry Collaborative

The Music Industry Collaborative (MIC) is a six-month applicant-based mentoring program designed for active entrepreneurs with existing music-related businesses.

The Music Industry Collaborative (MIC) program provides strategies to grow and improve music businesses and will fast track resources that busy music entrepreneurs most urgently need as well as employ meaningful dialog with successful entrepreneur mentors through a structured small group setting that also encourages peer-to-peer collaboration. MIC offers focused workshops on core topics that are essential for the music business entrepreneur to leverage strengths and overcome challenges and gain valuable resources.

The MIC program was established in 2012 with support from the City of Austin Economic Development Department’s Music & Entertainment Division. In 2015, AMF welcomed its new partners – successful entrepreneurs who have started and sold businesses and now run a venture capital firm. In addition to bringing an added level of personal experience, AMF’s partners offer $13,000 in grants to the participants they believe best embody the principles of the MIC Program. Individual investment opportunities with these partners may be available for MIC program participants.

Over the past two years of MIC, AMF and its program partners have awarded a total of $26,000 to five small music business owners.

AMF is not accepting applications for MIC 2018/2019 at this time.* Please check back for updates!

No more than seven local music business entrepreneurs are accepted to the program each year. All applications received by the submission deadline are carefully reviewed and given thoughtful consideration by AMF and its program partners.
