Due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and the importance of practicing social distancing, we have transitioned our Artist Consultations to an online platform for the time being. If you’d like to meet with one of our mentors, please click here to schedule your virtual consultation!
Artist Consultations are one-on-one conversations with professionals currently working in the industry to discuss your music, promotional strategies, and other ideas for building your career.
Since we are currently unable to host our in-person Artist Career Guidance Intro Workshops, we have decided to make these Virtual Consultations available to every artist, including first-time sign-ups. Schedule your virtual consultation here, and please contact email@example.com with any questions.
Meet the Mentors
Einar Pedersen, Resident Artist Consultant
From the Hole in the Wall to Wembley Stadium, and from Capzeyez to SNL; Austin Music Foundation’s Resident Artist Consultant Einar Pedersen has first-hand experience of achievement and failure at every level of the music industry as an artist and performer. The late 80’s, 90’s and early 00’s saw interest culminate into major label development, publishing, and record deals with The Awful Truth and Goudie; as well as being part of the early careers of Kacy Crowley, Jeff Klein, and other young Austin acts of the time. From there, a move to LA and a switch to hired-gun became different side projects with members of Tool, Weezer, and QOTSA to name a few; and tours around the world with major artists like Kelly Clarkson (10 years), Reba McIntire, and The Fray (currently) among others.
This experience provides the unique ability to personally relate to every artist who comes through the doors at AMF. In addition to consultations, Einar (along with Johnny Goudie and Alex Vallejo) leads the AMF Artist Development Program (ADP). This ever-evolving program puts a selective group of artists through the practical application of music business practices, centered around the creation and release of a compilation album of each year’s participants. All of this has become energizing and fulfilling perks of Einar’s return to Austin.
Cam “The Tastemaker” Turney, Digital Branding Guest Consultant
Cam “The Tastemaker” Turney has been working and connecting with artists in Austin for years. With a tight-knit group of influencers and industry professionals around him, Cam has proven himself to be adept at managing and promoting local artists from a wide range of genres, events, and brands. As Cam puts it: “success is a journey, not a destination” and The Tastemaker is passionate about the journey. Cam began his foray into music as an artist, gigging constantly and putting together bigger and better shows. After he began booking for other artists, he realized his true love lied in helping artists reach new audiences. Confident in this new path, Cam Turney studied Commercial Music Business and came back as The Tastemaker. His mission is simple: “I help artists and creatives amplify their presence and dominate the digital arenas needed to be successful.”
